Rule: Esperanto use the same word order as English. Notice amiko means friend, while malamiko means not friend or 'enemy'. Esperanto is a artificial language that tried to combine ideas, words & grammar from many world languages simply in one artificial language. Many Esperanto words are similiar in pairs of opposites like amiko (friend) and malamiko (enemy) or even varm (hot) and malvarma (cold). The creators of Esperanto tried to simplify the number of words to learn. So, learners need only learn one word for friend and then need not learn a completely different word for enemy.
Esperanto - Ĉu vi estas amiko aŭ malamiko?
English - Are you a friend or an enemy?
Reflection: I wonder is Ĉu vi like "are you"?
