Italian Learning Log - gender

 

Rule: Often Italian nouns matches the gender of the person they are referring to. 

• Lo scrittore is a male write.
• La scrittorice is a female writer etc. 

Italian  -Lei é il mio capo.                                     (NOT Lei é la mia capa.)

English - It is important to respect their advice.

Reflection: However, there is not always a word for each gender.  Il capo is the boss.  It can refer to a male or female boss.
